Q: How do I stop BearFlix from opening when I start my computer?
A: Open BearFlix (may already be open and in your System Tray as a small brown bear icon), go to Setup > Options and deselect "Launch BearFlix on System Startup".That way you can manually open up BearFlix instead of BearFlix opening up automatically when you start your computer.

Q: BearFlix notifies of an upgrade when I start my computer.
A: When you see such a notification, please upgrade to the latest version of BearFlix. By not upgrading you may be running a version with faults that affect other users without even knowing it. Also by upgrading you will get to use the latest features in the world of P2P.

Q: What does the yellow/red/flashing light mean?
A: Here is a list of common light signals and what they mean. The lights are numbered from left to right. 1st light flashing red: No connections to the Gnutella network, searching and other functions disabled, please see the Troubleshooting Guide for help. 1st light flashing yellow: Not enough connections to the Gnutella network, BearFlix is in the process of establishing more connections to the Gnutella network but will function normally. 2nd light flashing red: An error has occured with at least one download, please check the status of your downloads to find out what has happened. 3rd light flashing red: Sharing is disabled, while you are not sharing nor acting in Ultrapeer mode you are not contributing to the network. 4th light flashing yellow: BearFlix is checking your Firewall status. 4th light constant yellow: BearFlix is being partially blocked by a firewall or router device, your searches and downloads can improve by fixing this, please see the Firewalls Guide for help.

Q: How can I increase my horizon?
A: 0 BearFlix calculates horizon values in a different way using a system called the 'heartbeat'. What used to be the horizon (lower right of the BearFlix window next to the globe icon) is now the exact number of heartbeat capable servents connected to the network. It is assumed that a search can reach all heartbeat capable servents and further, you have no control over who is reachable beyond the reported horizon. The horizon value seen next to each Peer\Ultrapeer is calculated by the older, inaccurate system. For more information on the heartbeat system and other new features see the Technical FAQ.
